Investors In Pupils

On behalf of the school I attended a course to learn more about a quality mark that sounds like it's right up our street. Investors In Pupils is designed to promote pupils' understanding of how their school runs and how each member of the school community contributes to their learning.

There are five areas of focus for the award: learning, behaviour, attendance, classroom management and induction.

The award encourages the use of child-set targets (not academic, but behaviour and attitude targets), promotes pupil voice, particularly in decision making, provides an opportunity for the children to learn more about the basic finances of the school and aims to give the children a better understanding of the role of each member of the school community, including governors.

It is an award in which our school is already meeting many of the standards and I look forward to developing other areas to help recognise the ways that we 'invest' in our pupils.

You can read more about the award at their website www.investorsinpupils.co.uk.
